Young People's Issues Information and Resource Centre
The Centre assists young readers as well as professionals who work with young people: librarians, teachers, psychologists, sociologists, lawyers in need of systematic information about both the processes going on among young people and the state young people's policy.
Libraries & Youth Consulting Centre
The Centre collaborates with regional and municipal libraries that serve young people. We advise libraries in the regions, analyze libraries' work, and develop methodologies for different aspects of young adult library services.
EcoCulture Information and Education Centre
Environmental education in Russian libraries began in 1982, when the State Republican Young People's Library (known today as RSLYA) opened a department of environmental education, which has been functioning ever since. RSLYA is an information, methodology and coordination centre for all Russian libraries that are interested in environmental issues.
Library & Reading & Youth Research Centre
The Centre studies Russian libraries' young users, their reading preferences including printed vs. electronic text preferences. Moreover, the Centre supports and coordinates regional and city public libraries that research young adult library services.
Laboratory for Young People's Sociocultural Practices
RSLYA works in close partnership with the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, which coordinates the implementation of a state youth policy in Russia, with young people's associations and movements, and with representatives of various young people's subcultures. We also believe in the importance of improving library services for young people with special needs and collaborating with professionals who represent educational institutions.
International Relations Centre
The Centre's two main goals are to inform the Russian librarian community about the new trends in young adult services in libraries abroad and to inform the world librarian community about Russian libraries and their best young adult services and programmes. The Centre also ensures RSLYA's participation in international library projects; supports and advises Russian libraries that wish to find foreign partners; collaborates with foreign professional associations such as IFLA, YALSA, etc.
The National Centre for Visual Storytelling and Images
This is a new project of the Comics and Visual Culture Centre, which was opened in 2010. Thanks to RSLYA's support, public and specialized libraries all over the country are becoming seriously involved with visual storytelling. The Centre provides services, develops methodologies, and publishes magazines and books.
Young People's Library Pool
For 8 years, RSLYA has collaborated with young librarians via the Russian Library Association's Youth Section. RSLYA is the headquarters of the Section. The library is interested in supporting young librarians and developing their potential, creating the right conditions for young people to work in libraries.
