For 8 years, RSLYA has collaborated with young librarians via the Russian Library Association's Youth Section. RSLYA is the headquarters of the Section. The library is interested in supporting young librarians and developing their potential, creating the right conditions for young people to work in libraries.

Young librarians' movement has been growing in Russia since the early 2000s; there are young librarians' associations in different regions of the country. To organize their collaboration RSLYA and the RLA's Youth Section have put together the Register of Young Librarians' Associations, which has information about 93 associations from 35 regions.

Since 2006, in partnership with the RLA we organize the Young Librarians Forum, which takes place in different cities (2006 — Moscow, 2007 — Omsk, 2009 — Saratov, 2011 — Cheboksary, 2013 — Ryazan, 2015 — Irkutsk).

Since 2010, every two year, RSLYA hosts the Russian Convention for Young Librarians, an event for education and networking. The Convention attracts big amount of participants from different Russian libraries and gives the opportunity to discuss the issues young professionals interested in.

RSLYA initiated and was one of the organizers of the special session «Librarian of the Future» at the Russian Educational Youth Forum Seliger 2014. More than 200 young professionals from 58 Russian regions including Crimea and Sevastopol took part in the session.

In 2009-2010 under the auspices of the RLA the RSLYA conducted the empirical sociological survey «Young Staff in Russian Public Libraries», which results have been published as an analytical report.

RSLYA has prepared the reference issue «Librarianship and Staff Abroad» to help librarians in choosing materials on library staff in foreign countries.

In 2013 RSLYA published the manual «Managing Young Staff in a Modern Library» which reflects the long-term practical experience and materials of many sociological surveys on staff issue.

RSLYA monitors the RLA Youth Section's Facebook page.

The special section «Profession — Librarian» on the LIBRARY.RU website reflects the actual information about library education in Russia. Besides, there is information on several young librarians unions and their events. One of the items is dedicated to the journal «Young Professionals in Librarianship» (editor-in-chief — Tatyana Makarenko) and contains the archive of its issues 2003-2010.
