Today the renewed Russian State Library for Young Adults is ready to offer the modern services especially for young customers with their rapidly developing interests and constantly growing requirements for a new information technology. Besides, everyone (in age 14 and older) has an opportunity to become a member of our library. It was organized in 1966 and was based on the branch for youth of State Public Historical Library. The founder and the first director of our library was Irina Bahmutskaya. Our library collection contains:
Our members have a free access to the source databases in Internet or on our library-server. Furthermore, you have an opportunity to work with your own PCs or rented notebooks. |

Thematic Multi-media Halls
Each of them contains reading-area and offers free access to all books, periodicals, CDs and DVDs, source databases. Many items of our collection you may take home. Our qualified staff will be glad to help you and to give you a professional advice. Information Center for Young Adults Here young people have an opportunity to receive useful and up-to-date information about education and career, military service, different associations and organizations for young adults. There is a specialized department of information and library support for specialists working with teenagers and young people. Here they can find an extensive collection of articles and periodicals on youth problems. Psychological Consulting Service In our library young adults have an opportunity to receive a professional legal or psychological consultation, which may help them to choose a proper career or to adapt to “adult” life. The Hall of Rare Books Our library has a special collection of rare and ancient books, books, which have been ever given by their authors, miniature books and collection of ex-librises. The most ancient edition dates from 1594! The members of our library have an opportunity to acquaint with these unique books and to make copies of some pages and illustrations. The Hall of Visual Art produces a varied collection of art, architectural, sculptural, photographic, design and fashion, arts and crafts albums. You may look through them and order high-quality colour copies of the illustrations. Some of the electronic editions you may take home. Here you also have an opportunity to see films, literary filming or music clips. The Leisure-time Hall Here our members have an opportunity to glance through the fashion-magazines or popular newspapers, to learn more about comics and graphic novels and look through them, to listen to the audio-books in pleasant atmosphere or take them home, or just to listen to the favourite music and to relax. Museum of Computer illustrates clearly the development of the technical idea from simple calculation to personal computers and electronic books. Here the lectures for our members are hold. We have an extensive collection of books and different materials about computers and high technologies. 8 computer-places with high-speed Internet are available for you. The Club Hall with 12 places is specially designed for studies, seminars, lectures, negotiations and discussion clubs for young adults. Here you have an excellent opportunity to see films from our DVD collection or to play table games. The Conference Hall with 100 places is equipped with all necessary and up-to-date instruments. It's an excellent place to hold different seminars and conferences, interesting meetings with artists and writers, demonstrations of film for young adults. The Youth Historical and Cultural Center in the Mansion of Merchant Nosov
It is a beautiful wooden mansion in «Russian modern» style, which at one time belonged to the merchant's family. Here the exposition of the history of Russian business is produced, varied literary and music gatherings are hold, different art exhibitions are organized. In the mansion the Music library with a unique collection of printed and sheet music and gramophone recordings is situated also. |
