At Waiting for Kafka we discuss modern literature. We are not literary critics or scholars: the club is for young people who are interested in literature, who like to read and feel the need to discuss books after reading.
Every half a year we select six books that we’ll read during the next six months. Everyone can suggest several books but there are two conditions: 1) the book has to be written not earlier than mid-twentieth century, and 2) the book has to be already read by the person who suggests it. Then we choose six books and decide what book we’ll read each month. The person who suggested the book becomes the chair for the meeting. The chair usually finds interesting facts about the book and its author, begins and monitors the discussion. There are no strict rules, however: the person who suggested the book normally knows what they want to discuss and how.
The meetings are usually on the last Monday of the month. There are some exceptions due to holidays or the supervisor’s schedule.
For information about our next meeting go to our Facebook page or the library’s event calendar. You can join the club at any time.
